As part of the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act 2021 (CRRSAA), the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund II (HEERF II) provides colleges with funds to award grants for their students.
These funds are specifically intended to provide aid for students for expenses related to the disruptions due to the coronavirus and cost of attendance (such as food, housing, course materials, technology needs, health care and child care). Our objective is to provide assistance to TWU students who demonstrate exceptional need.
Am I eligible to apply?Students will be notified via email from Financial Aid if they meet the initial eligibility requirements. Those students will then be asked to complete a short verification form.
How much could I receive?Awards are typically $1,000, but exact amounts may vary by individual circumstances.
How do I apply for CARES Act relief funds?Financial Aid will determine initial eligibility and will contact eligible students via email. Students will then complete a short verification form.
How will I receive relief funds if I am eligible?Eligible students will complete the verification form and will indicate distribution preferences. The fastest way to receive the funds will be to apply it to your TWU account.
Can I request a review based on special circumstances?If you were not identified for initial eligibility and have had significant impact due to COVID, including: death in immediate family, hospitalization because of COVID, loss of employment by parent or self, then you may request a review by completing the 2021-2022 Special Circumstances Form (PDF).
I previously received CARES Act funding. Am I eligible for more?Yes, you may be eligible for more. Students will be notified via email from Financial Aid if they meet eligibility requirements.
Will these funds need to be repaid?No. These are relief funds, and you are not required to repay these funds to either TWU or the U.S. Department of Education.
